Dr. Selin GülgözPrincipal InvestigatorDr. Selin Gülgöz is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Fordham University. Her research interests lie in children’s and adults’ social cognition and conceptual development, with particular focus on children’s reasoning about social groups. She is interested in how individuals with diverse (and often marginalized) identities construct social categories, how people’s reasoning about social categories is reflected in their attitudes and behaviors, and how we can learn about the developmental origins of early social cognition. Outside of research and teaching, Selin enjoys spending time with her family and reading good fiction.

Welcome to the Social Thinkers Lab!

The Social Thinkers Lab is led by Dr. Selin Gülgöz, and is affiliated with the Applied Developmental Psychology Program at Fordham University.
In the Social Thinkers Lab, we study how children and adults reason about social categories, and how individuals’ own identities inform their social cognition.
Feel free to navigate through our website to learn more about who we are, what we do, how you can participate in our research, or how you can join our team.
